We have visited a few cold storages in Lin’an, Hangzhou on 10th Feb, 2022. There is little inventory of pecan nuts that could be found. 

Cold storage owner said one of the big reasons is that last year South Africa, Mexico and China all had a huge crop reduction leading to limited stock to meet Chinese  and international demand. 

As we learn, many processors were complaining that business was sluggish last year as there was little demand from Chinese market for nuts. They blamed it on Covid-19 which caused people’s business hard-hit and revenue unstable. But within the 30 days before lunar new year arrival, demand started exceeding supply. Processors were very busy during that period and had most of their roasted pecan nuts sold to the market.

Many factories and buyers are waiting for new season to start. From what we have seen on pecan trees, we believe it’s going to be a big output year.
